It’s an ex-Forest Service jeep.

“1953 Willys CJ3B Jeep. Jeep was formally a US Forestry Service Fire Jeep in South Dakota. It has spent its entire life garaged and only has 7,000 miles on the odometer. It is completely original except for changes made by US Forestry service. The original green paint is showing through some areas were the fire truck red has oxidized. There is zero rust on this Jeep. The frame still shows original black paint.

I have done some resurrection work since I’ve owned it. Major items include: seals and gaskets on transmission and transfer case, rear main seal, clutch disk and pressure plate, radiator re-core, brake drums and shoes, knuckle seals, carburetor rebuild, fuel tank and sending unit, hoses, water pump, points, cap, rotor, coil, battery, generator rebuild. I have heaps of spare parts (repro and NOS) that will go with it. Price is firm, no offers please. This is a real “time warp” machine and I hope the new owner will preserve it as it is.”

it’s sitting in front of a 4×4 shop in Livermore.

“This is a 1945 Willys MB flat fender jeep. The jeep is currently the centerpiece out in front of The 4 x 4 Shop in Livermore California. The jeep is far from perfect but was a runner when parked between the poles a year and a half ago. The jeep is currently registered in California though the photos show it with the New Mexico plate and it still wears its original data plates on the glove box door as well as the data plate on the frame. The paint job was done with the rattle cans for the grand opening of the store, and has been written on by hundreds of children with a sharpie marker . It’s actually a pretty entertaining peace . But unfortunately I am purchasing a new Willys shop truck so one of them has to go . The phone number listed is for the store and our store hours are Monday through Friday 9 to 6 and Saturday 9 to 3 . Or feel free to email and I’ll respond as soon as possible . “Dana 18 transfer case and overdrive unit. Both work great removed from a 1962 CJ5. Had the overdrive on my 1952 CJ and went from being able to do 45mph to 57mph. Doing and engine and tranny swap so no longer need it. Overdrive is a Warn unit. It is a factory part not a knockoff. Very rare. $600”

Ted Jordan has volunteered to auctionhis rare 2A brochure to benefit eWillys. His brochure, “Jeep Planning”, is one I’ve only seen come up on eBay once before (in 2013). He is including a newspaper insert, which is also a pretty neat,too. What he doesn’t know, and what remains unannounced to this point, is an epic trip involving a group of Willys nuts. My goal is to drive Rusty on that trip next summer. That means it must be roadworthy in ten months. Can it be done? We’ll find out! More on that trip will be shared at month’s end.

This auction was all Ted’s generous idea. As a life long Willys Jeep enthusiast and a huge fan of Ewillys, I would like to try and raise a little money for Dave through an auction or sale of a really cool Willys jeep Brochure. I can only speak for myself, but Im quite sure most of you Jeep guys will agree that Daves site is one of if not the best site for anything Willys related.

The brochure I’d like to donate to the cause is a really early super rare Willys Jeep Planning Brochure. Its about 25 pages long and includes the very hard to find supplemented newspaper section of 6 pages that is most always missing.

The condition of the brochure is excellent to mint with no damage what so ever.

I’ve been collecting Willys Jeep Brochures for a long time and this one doesn’t come along very often if at all. What separates it from most of the others is it really concentrates on all the very early Prototypes, CJ2s, Ag Jeeps, and early CJ2A Farm and Industrial Jeeps. Continue reading →

Jim alerted me to this mural in Sanford, North Carolina. The city of Sanford has been adding murals to downtown that preserve local history. One in particular is a glider with a jeep emerging from it that honors three of the town’sglider pilots, according to this article.
